Habitual Traffic Offender Hearings

WARNING: A person can be habitualized and lose their license for five years if they are adjudicated guilty of three civil infractions for Driving While License Suspended or Revoked Without Knowledge within a five year period.

If you get a citation for Driving While License Suspended or Revoked without knowledge do not pay the fine, set the case for a hearing or elect to take a driving improvement class so adjudication can be withheld.

If for some reason you learn that you are an habitual traffic offender and five years have already passed or a year has passed since the time you should have been habitualized then do the following so you can get your license back or at least get a hardship license:

  1. Call 1-850-922-9000 (DHSMV, Tallahassee)
     - Have them back date the date of your habitual Traffic Offender status
     - Have them back date Insurance

  2. Get a thirty day traffic search at Clerk’s office

  3. Enroll in Advanced Driving Improvement Class

  4. Go to your nearest Bureau of Driving Improvement (BDI) office and set a hearing to get your license back or at least to try to get a hardship license
