Urban Legal Myths
(The following are myths. The opposites are true. Of
course, there are always exceptions.)
1. The police have to read a person his Miranda rights when he is arrested.
2. A person has to leave the store to be arrested for Retail, Petit, and Grand Theft.
3. An undercover police officer has to admit she is a police officer if asked.
4. A parent can give consent for his or her minor child to have sex with an adult.
5. A person cannot be arrested/and or found guilty for a crime involving a weapon if no weapon is ever found.
6. Drug residue is not a enough for a conviction for possession of cocaine, etc...
7. There is a three-day cancellation period when signing a contract to buy a car, boat, renting an apartment, etc..
8. The police cannot videotape and or audiotape you without you knowing it.
9. An off-duty police officer cannot arrest you.
10. The police have to videotape and or audiotape everything they do.
